The surfaces of wooden furniture are either coated with paint and varnish or treated with wood oil. Furniture coated with paint or varnish should be used and cleaned very carefully, because repairing painted or varnished surfaces is either very difficult or sometimes impossible.
Furniture or tables treated with wood oil have a more original and natural appearance. In addition, if scratches or stains occur, their maintenance and restoration are much easier.
When cleaning wooden furniture, a wet cloth or chemical cleaning agents should never be used. Cleaning products containing chemicals can quickly fade the varnish, paint, or oil on the surface of wooden furniture and make it look worn out. When chemical materials are used for cleaning, the wood oil on the surface of the table or furniture evaporates quickly, causing the furniture to lose its natural appearance. Wooden furniture should be cleaned using a soft dust brush or a dry and soft cloth (the cloth must not be wet). If there is dirt on the surface of your wooden furniture or table that cannot be removed with a dry cloth, you may use high-quality wood cleaning products available in stores.
To prevent wooden tables from getting dirty, placemats can be used while eating. This helps protect the surface of the table and keeps it looking new for many years. If your table surface is treated with wood oil, applying oil maintenance 3–4 times throughout your lifetime, approximately every 3–5 years, will help keep your table looking like new for a very long time. Furniture finished with wood oil generally does not require frequent maintenance when cleaned properly. In many cases, oiling the furniture once in its lifetime may be sufficient. If you clean and use your furniture correctly, it may not require maintenance for many years.
Since wooden furniture is in contact with air, it naturally darkens over time. If you occasionally change the position of objects placed on your wooden furniture, the surfaces under those objects will not remain lighter in color and visible marks will be prevented.
For the cleaning and maintenance of your wooden furniture, the best decision is to consult the company from which you purchased the furniture.
